Basement Ceiling

Preparations for plasterboarding the "missing" piece of ceiling in the basement have been completed. This is where the spiral staircase was going to be. Strips of hardboard have been used as required to align the bottom edges of the joists, the existing plasterboard cut back to a joist in order to make a secure join, battens screwed to the side of joists as required, and acoustic insulation pushed into the gaps.

This picture shows the finished result of these labours. You can just about see the two junction boxes for the rerouted wiring, bottom right of the picture :


The insulation is offcuts I had lying around from two different supplies, hence the jigsaw of different colours. Note also the additional ceiling light recently added. See my September 21st entry for details.
