Moving the Radiator

The radiator needs to be moved around a foot to the right so that it doesn't get in the way of the glazed staircase partition. The hole has been covered with a sheet of ply to stop me falling down it and the heating system partially drained, so ready to go :

This is how it looks now :

Compare with the first photo - the camera is not perfect, but take it from me that the pipes are now upright, where previously they were a dogs dinner.

I had an interesting experience while refilling the heating system. The radiator on the other side of the room had long suffered from a cold panel (it is a double). While the system was drained I took the opportunity to remove this radiator and flush it through. The water ran through clear, so I was not hopeful that the problem would be resolved, and so it proved. However, when refitting the one I had just moved, I found this too only heated up one panel. Attempts to bleed the air out of the cold panel were fruitless - no pressure at all. However, a short piece of copper wire poked in the bleed hole, with the screw completely removed, caused a sudden release of pressure. This in turn allowed the panel to fill with nice warm water. The other one behaved identically, so we now have a full set of working radiators.
