Hole in Floor

Today the hole in the floor was made to accommodate the staircase. With the floorboards removed you can see the heating pipes that are just out of the way, and a set of ring-main cables that are not :


Note also, at the far end, that the radiator will have to be moved to the right, and that there is a set of sockets, including Ethernet port, TV outlet and telephone all of which will be effectively useless in their current positions. This is the result of redesigning after implementation - bad practice in any venture.

Once the floorboards were off, the ceiling below was pushed out and the two intermediate joists cut off and removed. The joists have been re-used as temporary markers that there is a hole in the floor :
