Final Steels

The final pair of steels were installed today :

This is another pair of purlins to support the roof over the rebuilt old extension between the original house (on the left) and the new "pod" (on the right). The wall plates either side of the two dormers (one at the front, one at the back) are also in place now, so the next set of roof timbers can be added and the dormer frameworks built. In fact the first two went in today and can be seen in the back right of the picture.

It is worth pointing out that all these upstairs floors are temporary - just sheets of ply laid on top of the joists. The proper floors won't go in until the very end.

Apparently these steels were an easy lift. A mere 76Kg each, so nothing like the problem posed by those in the earlier part of this project. I still managed to miss it though. They always seem to do them on days that I am not around. I am sure it is not deliberate !
