Trenches

The levels have been measured and the trenches dug today. The excavation of the overall site is a little low, so we need some shuttering too, as the beams will end up partly above the current ground level. The photo below shows (rather unclearly) the trenches and the pile caps.

Later in the day, the shuttering was done on the wide double-piled beam, but it was too dark to photograph.

Tomorrow the pilers return to prepare for concrete, while groundworkers finish the shuttering. The big pour should be on Wednesday.
