Building Control Give Go-ahead
I spoke to the Building Inspector from the council today. He has not been informed about our piling work yet (why am I not surprised), but in discussion he said he was happy for us to proceed on the basis that the design has been done jointly by the structural engineer, and a well respected piling company. He will make a site visit on the second day the contractors are here, and will request the details from the structural engineer tomorrow. He is more concerned about the concrete beams than he is the piles, but does not envisage a problem.
Apparently, with piling, the council are more interested in the seeing the pile "data sheets" that are produced once the piles are installed. Presumably these will tell them what the ground conditions were like, and how deep they had to go etc.
