A Little More Notice Please !

It appears the piling is nearly finished. Jan took a phone call from the piling boss man this afternoon, asking if we could get in the groundworks contractor to dig out the trenches for the concrete beams tomorrow. Of course, this is too short notice and the groundworks cannot be done until Monday. He huffed and puffed and moaned about his guys on site, as they should have told us they were nearly finished. It was hinted that we will have to pay standing time which I am not at all happy about, given it was their fault.

Anyway, they said that the earliest date they could now guarantee was the end of January. I think they were trying to get us to twist the groundworkers arm into working the weekend or something, but we were not prepared to do that, and called his bluff. He has now agreed that he can make a team available next Tuesday and Wednesday.

If they make us pay standing time we will counter with a claim for the groundworkers to be paid for digging out their fork-lift truck !
