Piling. Done.
It's a good job that I didn't arrange for the groundworks contractor to come yesterday. Piling works continued all day and they would have just got in each others way.
Even today it would have been difficult. We had the piling equipment stacked up on the track down to the site up until about 14:00 when the last of 4 lorries departed with the Fork Lift.
Anyway, the good news is that all the piling is now complete. A total of 17 piles of varying lengths. The groundworks contractor is now coming Monday, with the pilers returning to cast the concrete beams on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is all weather dependent, of course, but with luck it will all be done by Christmas.
The groundworks contractor has already delivered his digger. He is also expecting to have to shutter the trenches as he digs, as the site is now very claggy, and probably won't hold an edge particularly well. The beams also have to be let into the rock where it comes to the surface, so that there is a continuous foundation from the rock onto the piles. A lot to do on Monday.....
