Meeting with Structural Engineer

Structural Engineer came to visit us so that we could discuss any possible alternative sitings for the stairs, a couple of changes to the plans and comments we have on the drafts.

Conclusion on the stairs is that they are really in the best place. The other options either consume too much of the existing rooms (e.g. having to relocate the bathroom !) or contravene building regs to do with exit routes from bedrooms.

The changes we discussed were to remove the external chimney breast, and bring it indoors, and to replace the external "decking" with something more substancial, like a solid patio with brick arches. We will email some ideas to them on the latter.
