Proposal from Architect

The architect has now delivered a set of plans, with a proposal for avoiding the second staircase. In fact, the existing staircase needs to move to a new location, at the Eastern (front) end of the current living room. This gives us a larger hall and allows a corridor to be built upstairs, leading across to the new extension.

In order to gain sufficient head height over this corridor, he proposes that the roof over the existing extension is lifted to match that of the new build.

It is a shame that the staircase has to take up some of a room, but it is undoubtedly an advantage to have a bigger entrance hall - currently it is very cramped.

Getting the staircase to work within the confines of the roof height is going to be tricky. Some careful measuring will be needed !
