Log Store Finished
Almost a month ago I started to build a log store. This weekend, I finished it. First I set the pallets onto levelled pads made from broken up paving slabs, supporting it in 8 separate places. With the pallets level, the frame was bolted on (after hacking some chunks out of an old tree root to make room). A pre-constructed central frame adds to the overall rigidity and will divide the store into two components :
The idea is that one compartment stores logs for use this year, and the other, logs being prepared for next year. The overall depth is just under 2 feet, so it is designed to take 2 stacks of 10" logs, once behind the other on each side.
With the framework completed, the kindling shelf was added at the top, 2 diagonal bracing boards screwed onto the back and a timber roof nailed in place using overlapping feather boards. Here are 2 views of the finished store :
Now I just need to fill it.
