Plastering Complete

We could not face ripping all the old soft sooty plaster off of the wall, so elected to have it skimmed.  In most places it was pretty stable, so there were only one or two areas that needed chopping out completely and a "bonding" coat.  The rest was simply washed with watered down PVA and skimmed.  It is now drying out.  The fireplace now looks like it has always been there :

My favourite part of the plastering is the lovely curved reveal above the window.  It's a bit dark in this picture, but you get the idea :
