Facia Phase 2

The facia for the higher section of landing was completed today. At one end it was dowelled and glued into the previous piece using a rebate to give a nice corner to the half moon moulding :

At the other end, a pair of offset wedges held it in place while the screws were inserted through pre-drilled holes :

This end also has a mitre to accommodate a short piece in the gap to the newel post.

Here are two views of the end result :



The two lengths of timber look a completely different colour in the picture, but in reality the difference isn't that great. In any case, we are expecting this to have a painted finish.

Still to do is to build a proper replacement for the temporary step in the landing, and edge the floorboards, with a slight overlap onto these facias, again with a half moon moulding
