More Window Linings
At the risk of repetition from weeks/months/years ago, here are some pictures that summarize today's installation of the plasterboard linings to the new dining room window reveals. In each case the plasterboard (foil backed) is stuck in place with GripFill and braced while it cures.
For the small window under the stairs I braced it with offcuts of old architrave :
I used one of the cheapest and most useful things in my toolbox - the wooden wedge :
Years ago I made some adjustable shelving in a built-in cupboard, and I modelled the adjustment mechanism on a 19th century wardrobe. A length of timber in each corner, with a series of notches cut out to support cross pieces which can be inserted at any height. This wedge is just one of about 40 that I had when that job was done. I think I am now down to my last 6 !
For the bigger window behind the conservatory I used the T-bar previously seen holding plasterboard sheets up to the ceiling :
Plus some temporary wooden offcuts screwed through the board into the wall :
Previously I had found that the soft "cellcon" blocks would take a 100mm plasterboard screw straight into it, at least enough to hold the board while the GripFill set. This set, however, would not hold, so I had to use rawlplugs.
