Plan Change
Dad and I have constructed more of the bedroom studwork over the weekend, and this has led to a change of plan. If you cast your mind (or your browser) back to my 250th post on 22nd October, you will remember that I proffered up a number of design options for the layout of the first floor master bedroom area. The one selected had two access routes to the new bathroom, and an angled door to the bedroom :
Once some of the other walls were constructed, it's 3D impact became clearer and, whereas on the plan it looks fine, in practice, frankly, it was not very good. We have therefore changed things again. The angled door has gone, as has the dual access to the bathroom. The door to this bedroom area has been pulled back to the main opening in the wall :
The access door to the bathroom has also been pulled as far towards the dividing wall as possible. The reason for this is the very close clearance with the side of the soffit, as shown in this picture from today's toils : We had, in fact, already constructed the two doorways to the en-suite, the second of which can be seen here. This one will now need to be filled in with an extra stud and floor-plate :
The wall for the walk in cupboard is also mostly done, though the return with the door is still outstanding :
