Decking

A chap came round today to talk to us about the possibilities for a wooden balcony out the back in the middle floor. For those that can remember that far back, or that care to visit the link to the plans, the original idea was to have a solid high level patio supported by a pair of stone arches.

For various reasons, not least of which is the expense, we have gone off this idea. Instead, a high level decked area is proposed, with a veranda around the side leading to the front of the house, and steps down adjacent to the conservatory (which, incidentally, is now boasting a full complement of roof panels).

The chap who came today was very professional. He came with a laptop on which he was able to calculate an instant fixed, all-inclusive, price. He has also booked us a slot in which we can have the work done (week beginning 3rd December), should we choose to accept his quote. There are options of hard or soft wood deck materials, wooden or metal balustrades and even LED floor level lighting.

We were very impressed. We need to do something, otherwise our french windows from the sitting room will open out onto a 10' drop !
