Missed It Again !

Not much got done last week. The scaffolders were supposed to come Monday and/or Tuesday, leaving Wednesday through Friday for the big lift of the next floor steel. This was great because I was due to be at home those days so could either have helped (unlikely as I am old and feeble) or watched and taken photos.

Unfortunately, as always with these things, it didn't work out that way. The scaffolders didn't come until Friday which I knew immediately would mean my missing the beam install as I am away from home Today, Tuesday and Wednesday.

There were, however, a couple of glimmers of hope. Firstly the scaffolders omitted to build the central tower that the builders wanted to assist with the lift. This was essential to the plan, so as a minimum they would have to come back today to complete that job. Judging by their past record (last week) it seemed a safe bet that this wouldn't happen until Tuesday or Wednesday. The second glimmer was that my Wednesday trip to London was cancelled.

Before finishing this riveting story, here is a look at the completed middle floor, with the newly elevated scaffolding :

So, what actually happened was that today was probably one of the busiest on site to-date. The scaffolders obviously returned, as the tower has been built in the middle. The builders must have came mob-handed, because the 490 Kg steel beam is now firmly sat on it's padstones on top of the build. A fair number of the builders must have stayed because over half of the joists have also been installed. No photos I am afraid - it was too dark by the time I got home.

All this activity, and none of us here to witness it. Bahhhhhh.

Looking good but waiting with bated breath for the next stage!
You seem to have the builders from paradise so far at least. Keep up the info - most intriguing.
