Estimate

Received a new quote from the piling company, just as we were starting to think a bit of shouting down the phone was called for.

Surprisingly it is not too much more expensive, and it does appear to address the queries that we logged with them on October 27th.

On the north elevation there are now two rows of piles, but the length-wise spacing between them has been increased. There is still a beam present, now 1m wide to span both rows of piles. This is better able to resist the rotational forces imposed by the retaining wall. The number of piles to the west elevation, under the patio arches has been reduced to reflect the lighter loading, and it is stated that the piles we queried (those apparently at the points where the rock is at the surface) will not be drilled if the on-site team find that they are not necessary.

All we need now is to get this approved by the council and schedule an implementation date.
