Start Date - well nearly !

The Groundwork Contractor paid us a visit today. He reckons he should be able to start the job first week in August. At last it looks like some progress could be made.

There isn't much he needs to be done in advance. The major thing is, of course, removal of this chimney. Must get on with it at the weekend. The bushes and shrubs that are in the way are not a problem. He will just dig them up with a JCB and cast them aside !

One other thing that needs to be done is removal of a gas pipe. This runs all the way around the outside of the house to take gas to the fireplace. We don't need this any more. A gas fitter is coming in a week to cap the pipe at the meter. I can then remove it.

Nobody has taken up my offer of "Subscription" to this blog. You obviously don't mind continually finding that I haven't posted anything to it for days on end (except today of course). Perhaps it is the scary eMail address, and the thought that it might result in bucket-loads of spam eMail heading your way. Actually, that won't happen (unless I sell your eMail addresses of course !). In fact it is me that is most at risk. I used the "Mailto" tag for the "Subscribe" and "Unsubscribe" buttons, and these appear in the HTML source of this blog in plain text. This means they are eMail addresses that can be "harvested" by anyone with a mind to do so.

Of course, the other explanation for lack of subscribers is that I don't have any readers.........
