Another quote

Received a quote in the post this morning. This is the one we have been expecting since 15th April and covers the bit in between the groundworks and the roof. It comes from one of the builders that previously quoted for the whole job.

Unfortunately, still too expensive. We are getting closer to affordable, but are still not quite there. This week we have also had a call from another of the builders who quoted previously to say that they are also intending to re-quote under the new regime.

It has suddenly occurred to me that, in a market where building jobs are plentiful, the builders can pick and choose what work they do. This means that if your particular job is not attractive to them, they don't have to do it. You will end up either paying through the nose, or employing somebody who is no good. In the worst case, you simply end up not being able to get the job done at all !

Mustn't be so pessimistic.....
