Lower Deck - Done
The work on the lower deck is complete. Here are a few views of it, including the raised area over the water pipe :
The steps down from the upper deck are down to us to complete, as we had already built them a couple of years ago, they just need resizing for the new levels and reinstating. It doesn't quite integrate into the rest of the landscape yet, but that will come once we have a retaining wall where it meets the grass, and other things around the edges.
Generally we are very pleased with the result. It may not be what we originally intended, but it is definitely a "greener" solution than imported rock and concrete, though you do have to ignore the nasty chemicals that must have been used on the timber in order to give it a 15 year life in the dank conditions of a Gloucestershire hillside.
The bank has also been planted up and a bark mulch put down as a weed suppressent. The theory is that these plants will survive the winter and have a head-start in the spring time. Let us see how many survive.
