Roof Problem Solved
The valley problem documented in my last blog has been solved by the addition of a board across the main slope that acts as the endpoint for the other :
It looks complicated at the bottom, where all the angles meet, but I am sure this will be sorted out once the stone and tiles are in position. All the rafters are in postion now, as well as the drops from the ridge onto a longitudinal joist, and the cross joists that will bear the ceiling.
In the following photo you can see the components as well as the two steels. There are more joists to add, working towards the camera.
Note the temporary beam supported by the accro prop. This is there purely to make sure the bottom of the joists are all level with each other. This makes for a smooth and level ceiling. The top of these joists does not matter as they are not bearing a floor (unless we board the loft space). It is not obvious from the picture, but these joists are not attached in any way to the underside of the steels. They simply pass underneath with a slight gap.
My final picture of the day shows the new wall to the lounge, freshly uncovered from beneath the tarpaulin :
