Things are Getting Interesting Again

After what seems like weeks (probably is) of simply piling up blocks and stones, things are just getting interesting again. As this picture shows, work has now started on the end wall of the existing house :

The tiles over the wall have been stripped off so that the wall can be built up to it's new height. You can see that the existing blockwork has been cut back to the zig-zag shape on the right so that new blocks can be added in. On the left the outer skin has been cut vertically to make the doorway into our new bedroom. This area of the build is now virtually inaccessible from the outside, so it is ladder access from below from now on. The chief has banned them from passing anything (including themselves) through the windows, just in case the stone mullions get chipped or otherwise damaged.

Wall plates have also been attached, ready to put up some roof timbers that will form the template for the first of the gable ends. Hopefully I will get more photos tomorrow.
