Roof Gone

Today the roof of the existing extension was removed. We now have a gap between the old house and the new. The floor of the lounge is now exposed to the elements, which is perhaps not the best thing, as this morning saw the first snow of the winter !

The grey oblong to the left is the doorway that used to give access to this room, which the children used as playroom. It was blocked up yesterday.

You may also have noticed that there is lots of scaffold about. In order to facilitate working in all weathers the builder has commisioned the scaffolders to build a tin roof over the whole extension. It is going to take them all this week to complete. As you can see it is very high :

It is, of course, even higher from the back because of the slope of the land. I'll do more pictures of this as it progresses. The theory is that the cost of building it will be offset by the productivity gains that result. Seems a bit over the top to me (pardon the pun !).
