Stonework

Having completed the modifications to the chimey work has now switched to building up the stone outer layer. It is really starting to take shape now :

This is quite fiddly work, especially down the side, where the stepped foundation to match the contours mean that the size of the courses is variable. Nearly a week has been spent getting to the point that you see in the photo. Progress is hampered by the fact that one of the builder's men has bronchitis and another went home yesterday with sunstroke.

The stone is still to be pointed with a lime based mortar. The plan is to get the stone up to the level of the blockwork, then get it all pointed so that this level is effectively complete. Then the scaffold can go in for the next storey and the whole process start again.

Glad to see real visible progress. Shame about the sunstroke but you can't have summer as well as progress! Best wishes.
