The walls have now reached the level of the lintels above the pair of double doors and the fire place is now taking shape :

It is beginning to look like a proper room.

The lintels are rather flimsy looking bent metal with a polystyrene insert, but I am assured they are strong enough. The blockwork rests on a shelf formed by the bent section on each side. You have to be careful when installing them, as they distort very easily, but once the mortar has gone off the overall structure is very strong. So I'm told.
