Materials Delivered

Things should be underway again soon. The long awaited materials to continue with the build are now being delivered. Last Friday the joists arrived and today, the famous half tonne steel beams plus the component parts for building the fireplaces and flues.

One of the steel beams has been manouvred into place atop the wall, waiting to be eased along to it's final resting place in the middle. Four men and a wheeled trolly managed to get it into place. Unfortunately I was not here to help or watch !

The flue components look interesting :

There are both straight, and angled components which slot together and are joined with some form of fireproof mastic. Once the blockwork is built around the flue ducting, some special insulating chippings are poured into the gap between.

We have also been supplied with a fireback for the bedroom fireplace, which we may or may not use. We haven't thought that far ahead yet.

Ten tonnes of stone should be coming in the next couple of days, so things should really kick off again soon.
