Carpet Angst
We are trying to choose a carpet for our living room. We figure that if we order a carpet it will give the impetus to complete the small number of jobs in this room and actually get it finished.
We have two dilemmas. The first is the colour to choose. When the room was painted we went for a neutral cream/magnolia (universal landlord colour) on the walls with the exception of a bold crimson "feature wall" on the chimney breast :
We have found it difficult to decide whether to extend this bold colour onto the floor or not. We are torn between wanting to be bold, and not wanting to be horribly disappointed when it is fitted. Also, a dark colour on the floor will be a risk because there isn't a huge amount of light in the room.
The second problem is carpet size. We have found a manufacturer (Ryalux) that sell a carpet in any width up to 7m, which means we can have a carpet with no joins. However, getting samples has proved very difficult. Our "usual" supplier could only give us small samples in the wrong colours. We asked Ryalux to send us some, and what turned up were "pomms" - circular pieces of carpet less than 2" in diameter. Worse than useless.
Eventually we found a carpet supplier in Cirencester with decent sized samples that we could use for colour choosing, but in the wrong carpet. A combination of all these helped us to make up our minds, going for a "safe" light colour in the no-join carpet from Ryalux. We placed an order via the Cirencester supplier, and he did us a quote, but he is concerned that he doesn't have a van big enough to get the carpet to us. He is going to try and get Ryalux to deliver directly to us.
We wait to see what happens after Christmas....
