Landscaping Day 1
A similar digger to last time has arrived to do the work. Lorries have been bringing in Cotswold "brash" from the other site, and this digger and a dumper truck have been on-site to move it all around.
The area under our high level deck has been scraped level to a depth that will allow for our proposed patio area. We have been advised that we will need a reinforced concrete slab foundation, as this is disturbed ground liable to subsidence. This is disappointing as it will add to the cost and mean we have to fill our garden with tons of concrete - something we hadn't bargained for.To allow for this slab, the ground level has been scraped down to below the level of the original house foundation beams. The "lawn" has been cur back in readiness for some kind of retaining wall :
I had to hastily remove the platform and last three winder steps from the deck - something I had forgotten to deal with before they arrived. Luckily my electric screwdriver had just about enough charge in it.
The dug out material, plus that arriving by lorry, has just been pushed over the edge for now. Tomorrow the digger will go down to the bottom and create some proper shapes.
