Old Lounge Radiator

When the central heating was extended into the new parts of the house, we opted to retain the existing radiator in the old lounge. However, now it has come down to the detailed work on this room it has become clear that the pipework needs altering. There is an ugly surface mount pipe from one end to the other, and it's presence makes fitting new skirting board difficult. There is also an old horizontally mounted TRV that frequently sticks in the "off" position, which needs to be replaced and some of the floorboards in this area are split and ill-fitting. Time for a makeover !

Firstly, lift the floorboards and put some notches in for an underfloor pipe :

The horizontal feeds to both ends of the radiator have been capped off, a "stand-pipe" fitted at the near end, and an insulated underfloor pipe run to the far end :

The old round-top skirting is off, ready to be replaced by an ogee to match the rest of the room. Unfortunately the point where the pipework pops out of the wall was unavoidable, so I will need to provide a little box cover for this.
