Step Soffit Frame, Done

Today the soffit frame was completed and the rest of the ceiling boarded up against it :

The coil of white cable hanging down is for an alarm sensor that used to be routed into the room upstairs (I think !). The sensor is still "live" and will be mounted just to the side of the frame once the plastering is done. Ideally I would shorten the cable but, as I found out the hard way with the sensor in Adam's room, as soon as you take the cover off, the tamper alarm goes off and wakes the neighbourhood. I think I will just coil up the cable and lose it behind the final piece of plasterboard !

Looking from the left hand side, you can see that my triangular ply endpiece is flush with the joist above it :

This is going to form the open edge of the stair well, so will have a facing attached to it. This facing will be continuous along the upper joist, down the step and along the lower joist. However, as you may just be able to see, for some strange reason the builder has not aligned the two parts of the landing, either side of the step. I am going to have to bolt a 3rd joist to the two that are already there in order to bring everything into alignment for the facing.
