Tiling ++

Jan managed to get some tiling done this week. The top of the basin cupboard received it's main tiles and some mosaic edgings :

Jan and I had arguments over the colour change of the mosaics. I wanted to stay with the bronzy coloured ones, even up the wall, but Jan was keen to use the green ones, which look nicer against the white walls. You can deduce from the picture who won that particular dispute !

The mosaic tiles come on a sticky tape backing, and you lay them with the tape outwards, then peel it off when the tile cement has dried. In fact it is a good job we found this out as we were planning to stick them upside down - we thought the backing tape was an integral part that went against the wall !

Progress has also been made with the bath frame. An edging strip has been glued to the floor to frame the bath surround (actually it's primary purpose is to fill the gap under the tiles, and we were originally planning to cut it back flush, but it looks nice !). The removable panels have been made out of more ply. The splashback tiles and those on the ends of the pillars are also now fixed in place :

You may also have noticed in the picture that the taps and fittings are also in place (fully plumbed in) and that there are a couple of electrical cables ready to power the hot air bubbles and chromatherapy lights. I put these in, rather than wait for the electrician. He can connect them up, but I have done the "donkey work".

Incidentally, the wires sticking out of the wall at the very top of this picture were originally for a shaver point. This dates back to the time when this was going to be the location of the washbasin. Now that the plan has changed, these will need to be pulled back through and the hole lost behind a tile. This means we won't have a shaver point, which is not a great problem for me (wet shaver), but is probably an omission,should we ever want to sell.

Also this week, but not photographed, the plumbing up to the shower has been completed. A shower has been chosen and ordered. Download of the install guide from the internet has allowed me to position the pipework in advance.
