Dormer Completed
The dormer above the stairs is now completely boarded out ready for plastering. Looking at it from below it looks so straightforward and simple :
However, I know of the complexity that is hidden behind that facade ! That's my excuse for why it has taken so long. Note the addition of an electric cable - this is to allow for the possibility of a light over the top of the stairs. It is not on the electrical plan, and the electrician will probably complain, but I don't care.
I mentioned in a blog from a couple of days ago, that I had invited my plasterer to come and give his opinion on the walls of the room that Jan and I have just vacated. It is going to be Adam's bedroom. Despite two phone calls, the plasterer did not show up (in his defence, he did tell me that he was taking some holiday). We took an executive decision, and decided that those bits of plaster that make a hollow echo when tapped are "blown" and need to come off. With Mum & Dad's help we made a start on this, and needless to say it soon escalated into a full plaster strip :
The SDS hammer drill that I bought way back at the start of this project (for demolishing the chimney) proved useful once again. It makes short work of the plaster, but generates a huge amount of dust, so can only be used in short bursts.
This is a part of the project to be continued next week !
