Internal Window Cills

Back in early September I took delivery of some oak window-board prepared at the local joinery to make up our remaining internal window cills. They are finger-jointed planks with a bull-nose moulding routed on the front edge. This week I have fitted some of these.

First up was an easy one, easy because it only has one end to be scarfed up against the wall :


Next was a reasonably easy narrow one under the staircase. This was easy because the sides were more-or-less straight and parallel :


Finally there was this hard one at the top of the stairs. Hard because it is long and heavy and the sides are neither straight nor parallel :


That just leaves two left to do. A small one in the internal window between the old and new dining room (currently boarded up) :

And the really tricky one in the void above the front door :


This is doubly tricky because of the difficulty of access, but also because of a step in the masonry on top of which it will sit. More details of this in a later posting....
